Department Store Story.pngWe invite you to join us for a special presentation on the topic of "The Birth & Death of the Department Store" by leading Retail Expert Carl Chudnofsky. 

The presentation will focus on the story of German Jewish immigration during the 19th century and their tremendous achievements of creating an industry in their new country as well as building community and synagogues through their incredible philanthropy.

In the words of Carl "It is truly an amazing story that deeply inspires me".  We are delighted that he will be able to share this unique story which is both historic, Jewish and inspirational all at the same time and invite you to join in and hear the story.

The event will take place virtually via Zoom on Wednesday March 3rd at 7pm.

The presentation will take 45 minutes and will be followed by questions and answers.

CARL CHUDNOFSKY BIO

Carl Chudnofsky.pngCarl Chudnofsky measures his life and success in three spheres: family, career and community.

Carl grew up in Boston and has lived in the MetroWest community for many years where he and his wife Carol raised their family. He attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Northeastern University, School of Business. He became a successful leader in the retail and real estate business where he served on the Administrative Board at Filene’s in Boston and later became President of the WellsPark Group, the management company of New England Development of Boston where he also served as Executive Vice President.

As an adult, he decided to focus on Judaic Studies beginning with a two year program in Me’ah, facilitated by Hebrew College. Following graduation in this two year program, he studied for his Master’s Degree in Judaic Studies at Hebrew College graduating in June, 2013. He completed a thesis titled: “The Jewish Identity of the Real Estate Entrepreneur.” He currently enjoys teaching and speaking in the synagogues in the MetroWest community. Carl and his wife, Carol, are members of Temple Beth Sholom in Framingham.

Mr. Chudnofsky has served as a leader in the Greater Boston and MetroWest community for many years. He served as President of the MetroWest Jewish Federation as well as Co-President of the Bureau of Jewish Education. He is former Treasurer and executive committee member of Combined Jewish Philanthropies. Carl served on the National Commission of the Anti-Defamation League for many years. He is also a Founder of the MetroWest Jewish Day School as well as a past board member of the Greater Boston Jewish Community Centers and Hebrew Senior Life.

He currently serves on the Board of Trustees at Hebrew College where he is Chair of Development and also serves on the Real Estate Committee.
