Community Help & Response
As a community we must be both responsible and ensure Social Distancing to protect the elderly and the vulnerable, but we must also be there to protect them and be supportive to each other in ways that work and are safe. Being alone in your home is not an easy thing in many practical ways, and also it can be very lonely and depressing. To this end, we have been able to designate volunteers to work with elderly or homebound people to help them with shopping and other errands
1. If you are young and able bodied and are willing to help with shopping and deliveries for those who are confined to their home, please let us know and you can join our group of dedicated volunteers. If you need help with shopping or errands please let us know.
2. If you are willing to be part of a group that will call and check in (from your own home) on people and try and strengthen community and help people overcome loneliness, please let us know.
3. If you know of someone who is vulnerable and may need help, please let us know if they consent or won't mind.
4. If you would like to schedule a phone call or online meetup with another person in the community just to chat, please let us know and we will make a match.
5. If you would like to be a part of a team of volunteers who will check in on people and the many in our community, just to touch base and see if there is anything that we can do as a community, please let us know.
6. Tech Support. If you need tech support to learn how to use Zoom, setup Online Shopping for Food etc and would like some help, we can have a volunteer call and guide you through the process. If you would like help with this let us know and if you would like to help with this let us know.
Spiritual Response
At times like these when things are challenging, it is extra important to increase in our acts of spirituality and Mitzvot, and we encourage you to consider making the daily space in your life for some learning, some charity, and some prayer from the comfort of your own home and with your loved ones.
Zoom
We have many interesting offerings on Zoom on Facebook for the Community, including but not limited to Classes, Courses, Hebrew School, Guest Speakers, Bake Events, Pre Shabbat Events and more.
Want to talk or have Questions
If anyone would like to talk or has questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out and we can speak by phone or Zoom.
Suggestions
If you have further suggestions as to what we can do as a community and be there for each other please let us know. We look forward to continuing to work together with all of you to strengthen our community and each other, to be there for those in need, to inspire and teach, and to make sure we go through this challenge with as much strength and positivity as possible.
