What to Expect and not Expect @ Chabad Sudbury High Holiday Services

Saturday, 12 September, 2015 - 10:32 pm

Dear Friends,

Do you live in a box? Hey, maybe I live in a box?

In truth you, me and everyone else that we know usually all live in some kind of “box”. I don’t mean in a Cardboard Box, I mean a box that we create for ourselves whose walls are made up of our perceptions, awareness, experiences, reality and choices that we choose to focus on throughout the year.

Rosh Hashanah is all about climbing out of our box and seeing the broader and bigger picture. It is not about you climbing into my box or me climbing into your box, it is about thinking outside of our “virtual box”, about our choices and actions of the previous year, about what we truly want the future year to look like, and about reflecting on how can make a positive difference to the world around us.

It’s time to step back and step up and see and approach things from a different vantage point.

For over 3000 years, Jews have stepped back each Rosh Hashanah and taken the time to reflect, pray, celebrate and eat Gefilte Fish. 2015 should be no different, and you too can join the long ancient but relevant tradition.

Why come to Chabad services?

In light of the above, I would love to invite each one of you and any Jewish person that is out there, to join us for Rosh Hashanah as we celebrate our heritage and the New Year, and climb out of our “box” and think about life and the world around us in a different manner.
