In Memoriam: Alan Alford OBM

Thursday, 13 August, 2015 - 12:22 pm

Alan Alford OBM.jpgChabad of Sudbury mourns the passing of Alan Alford of blessed memory who passed away yesterday while surrounded by his dear family. Alan was a pioneer of Sudbury Jewish Community and helped found Temple Beth El some fifty years ago by going door to door to find the first Jews of Sudbury. In more recent years, Alan was very active in Chabad of Sudbury at classes, services, programs, and in so many other ways.

Alan will be remembered for his steady smile, his refusal to complain even if things were difficult and his love for his family, his heritage and youth in general.

Alan was a loyal Minyan attendee on Shabbat and was always glad to be there for a Minyan and to help someone be able to say Kaddish. Alan was also a very active participant in our Adult Education classes and courses and his sharpness, wit and clarity were an enjoyable part of every class he was a part of.

He will be deeply missed by everyone at Chabad of Sudbury as a dear and caring friend and as a participant.

May his dear family and siblings be comforted among the mourners of Zion & Jerusalem and may his memory serve as an inspiration to all of us.

Alan was a very sweet, kind man. I enjoyed spending time with him on the Sudbury Chabad's Business Development Committee. He always had good suggestions and was very humble and respectful with Rabbi Freeman. Alan was a good soul who will be missed.
