Wednesday, 13 June, 2012 - 11:53 am

JLI Pictures 060.JPGParticipants at the last class of Chabad of Sudbury's "Art of Marriage" course enjoyed the final class along with a delicious Bagel Dinner which was sponsored and prepared by course participants Ed & Robin Brookmyer. The course which covered many aspects of relationships and marriage ranging included topics such as Jewish wisdom on intimacy, love, divorce, improving oneself and many more aspects of marriage.

Its in depth learning and the engaged and expressive group that were part of the course made it a wonderful learning experience for all of the course participants.

Respect Before Love
“Our sages instructed that a man honor his wife more than he honors himself and love her as he loves himself”( Maimonides Laws of Marriage 15:19)

On Self Control
“The mind rules over the instincts by virtue of nature” (Tanya, ch 12)

Ask Not What You Get Rather What You Give
“My beloved is mine and I am his” (Song of Songs 2:16)

I think I speak for Ed as well as myself, when I say that we both enjoyed "The Art Of Marriage" conducted by our own Rabbi Freeman. Not only was it informative and well thought out each week, Ed and I had the chance to have our own dialog after each class was over. Rabbi Freeman did his homework preparing for each class and answered everyone's questions with much thought. I enjoyed seeing/meeting all the couples (some weeks their were singles) from week to week and understanding more about how Judaism approaches marriage.

"The Art Of Marriage" was my first coure taken at Chabad and I truly enjoyed the class and experience. The Rabbi was well prepared, worked hard to keep us on track, and had a great sense of humor for a somewhat difficult class to teach to a bunch of old married couples! It was interesting to learn about the Jewish perspective on relationships. Rabbi Freeman was also very candid and forthcoming regarding all questions asked, personal and otherwise. I will definitely take another Chabad course in the future.
Oh, and we were fed very nicely as well!
