After a very beautiful and packed month of activities, events, gatherings and celebrations, we wanted to take a moment to share a thank you and and some feedback with our wonderful community.
We hope that this note, will be an uplifting boost and encouraging message regarding the growth of the community, Jewish life, hope and positivity, and a brighter Jewish tomorrow.
Pre Rosh Hashanah Events
Dozens of children started off the new academic year at the Sunday Hebrew School, as we welcomed lots of returning students and many new families and students who have joined us for another year of growth for this program. PICTURES
Lots of young families enjoyed a Challah Bake and Shofar Making Activity along with lots more fun at the pre Rosh Hashanah kids event. PICTURES
Two dozen ladies joined together for a beautiful evening of Challah Baking and meaningful discussions in the final days before Rosh Hashanah. PICTURES
More than 200 homes of families, seniors and others were visited and brought a hand delivered New Year package including home made Honey Cake, treats for Rosh Hashanah and a meaningful holiday booklet. Lots of those visits turned into very meaningful, deep and sometimes emotional conversations.
High Holidays
80 people joined us for a beautiful Rosh Hashanah Community Dinner on the first night of the holiday, while more than 150 people joined us on the first day of Rosh Hashanah for services and the children's program.
The Shofar & Tashlich at the Grist Mill saw its biggest crowds ever with a solid 300+ men, women and children, joining us for this beautiful community tradition. At the conclusion of the ceremony, many milled around and chatted, while the kids played, and every so often a new group of visitors came and enjoyed hearing the Shofar.
The second day of Rosh Hashanah saw 60 of you join us, but also saw lots of visits to local nursing homes and to others, to sound the Shofar for those who weren't able to make it to a synagogue.
Yom Kippur, saw beautiful crowds at all the services in the outdoor tent. While we did have the heater turned on at times, it was the beautiful atmosphere that really warmed everyone up. Neilah with a good 200 of you in attendance for those uplifting and powerful final moments of Yom Kippur was one of our favorite moments. Of course it was followed by an awesome break fast!
Sukkot
So many of you joined us over Sukkot for dinners, visits and meals in the Sukkah. Thank you to each of you who joined us at a dinner, meal, daily service, or who stopped by to shake the Lulav.
Thank you to the 80+ who joined us for the Pizza in the Sukkah Adult Celebration with Jacques Cohen of Boston Gourmet Chefs. PICTURES
Thank you to the 25 teens who joined us for a fun CTEEN Sukkot Celebration and fun activity, in the Freeman residence Sukkah. PICTURES
Thank you to the 70+ who joined us for a beautiful Bar Mitzvah on Sukkot.
Thanks to the horse and pony and of course to all the children and young families who joined us for the kids Sukkot Celebrations. PICTURES
Hostages Homecoming
Finally, we ended off the holidays with a joyous gathering to celebrate the homecoming of the hostages, in the final moments of Sukkot, as dozens shook the Lulav, and together we sang and celebrated their homecoming and return. Those who stayed for the evening enjoyed the mini Hakkafot dancing too!
Yizkor on Shemini Atzeret was a meaningful moment as we also marked the two year anniversary of Oct 7th.
Simchat Torah Celebrations
Finally, thank to the many of you who joined us for the truly uplifting Simchat Torah Celebrations. From the dancing of the adults and children, to the joyous circles of happiness, each song and Hakkafah was dedicated to another joyous and meaningful theme, helping culminate this joyous holiday with a happiness and joy of another kind.
All of this growth, joy, meaning and happiness, sense of community and togetherness, happened because people showed up, invited friends, helped bring joy to others, and collectively helped support the growth and future of our community, for the young, the seniors, the families, the teens and the homebound.
Together we are creating beautiful and inspiring momentum, and a place and space, where so many can come together, unite, celebrate being Jewish, make a difference to others locally and for our brothers and sisters in Israel, and leave with a sense of being proud of our Jewish identity and the values we represent and seek to live by.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered, did errands, help with setup for events, participated in security, gardening, cooking and so much more!
Thank you to each and every one of you for helping make this happen!
Sincerely,
Rabbi Yisroel & Shayna Freeman
