Dear Friends,
Earlier this week, I was installing some Mezuzos on some homes of Hebrew School students with some beautiful Mezuzah cases that were made by the children, as part of a special project. In one of the homes, they showed me on their counter, a photo of one of the hostages, Yosef Chaim Ohana, along with a Prayer from Psalms, which was framed and sitting in the kitchen.
They explained to me how they prayed every day for him, and it won't be coming down, until he comes home.
It was very beautiful and special and I suggested that when we put up the Mezuzahs and say the prayers, we will have Yosef Chaim and all the hostages in mind.
I then shared a video with Avi, the father of Yosef Chaim, who responded with such a heartfelt and emotional response. He was extremely touched and so grateful and said he was full of faith, that in the merit of all the prayers and unity of Jewish people from around the world, we will soon have the miracle we are all waiting for.
It was a reminder of how small the world is, and how easy it is to make a difference even from the other side of the world, and how the prayers and Mitzvahs which we do, play such a critical role in bringing change and blessings to the world we live in.
Indeed, it is tomorrow that we will be reading the portion, which contains the Shema, the prayer which also instructs us to mount these words on our doorposts, and bring their message and blessings to our home, wherever we live.
At a time, when the world needs even more Mitzvahs, Good Deeds and Blessings, and needs us to be even more proud of being Jewish and the values we live for, the Mitzvah of Mezuzah is a beautiful way to express these ideals and blessings.
Over the last few weeks, we have conducted many Mezuzah visits to peoples homes and offices, and have more scheduled for later this month and September. If you would like to schedule your Mezuzah visit for September, or afterwards, please do let us know and it would be an honor for us to participate in this with you.
Next week, I am heading to Israel, a story and dynamic of another kind, please read below.
Shabbat Shalom & Good Shabbos
