| Unprecedented Rosh Hashanah with the Chabad Center of Sudbury Rosh Hashanah was celebrated with the Chabad Center of Sudbury in an unprecedented manor with multiple programs and services drawing in ever growing numbers of participants. Below is a brief report of some of the event. Wingate Senior Program We began Rosh Hashanah with a service and celebration at the Wingate at Sudbury on Monday Sep 29th for the residents and their family members. The emotionally charged event was a memorable one as we shared inspiring stories, sung Rosh Hashanah Melodies and paid tribute to the sound of the Shofar which represents the unbreakable Jewish soul and spirit. Tears flowed freely, as young and old marked Rosh Hashanah in their own unique way, as holocaust survivors, including a 99 year old, their children, American born Jews, and many others all of whom represent the unbreakable Jewish spirit of triumph and survival. shared a truly uplifting and memorable Rosh Hashanah experience. 1st Rosh Hashanah Dinner Close to 70 people joined us for a unique 1st ever Rosh Hashanah Community Dinner in Sudbury hosted by the Chabad Center. The event was held at the Clarion Coach House Inn and included Rosh Hashanah Evening Services which were then followed by a meal that included all the Rosh Hashanah traditions, great food, plenty wine, uplifting and moving songs, stories of Rosh Hashanah inspiration, and lots of great socializing and fun. What a truly magnificent way to welcome the New Year. Following this year's successful dinner we are confident that this will become an annual tradition. Rosh Hashanah Services Report Over 120 people participated in our Rosh Hashanah Services and programs over the course of Rosh Hashanah with the highlight being the Rosh Hashanah Eve Service and the 1st Rosh Hashanah morning service. Participants enjoyed moving services, explanatory remarks to the various prayers and traditions, a twist of Jewish Humor (which included some live stock market updates) and much more. In addition, an exciting children's program took place in another room of the hotel allowing children to appreciate Rosh Hashanah in their own way. We welcome your feedback on any of the above programs and would love to make next year's Rosh Hashanah services even better. Sermons included talks on methods of transmitting our Judaism and values to our children in today's day and age, and moving forward during difficult economic times. | |
