How Rosh Hashanah was celebrated with Chabad of Sudbury

Thursday, 2 October, 2014 - 1:59 pm

Rosh HashanaRosh Hashanah 5775 was marked with multiple beautiful programs for young old and families alike which drew great turnout for all of the events.

New for this year, the annual Rosh Hashanah Community Dinner was held at the White Lodge and was celebrated by some 70 people from the community and beyond. Participants all had a chance to share something nice about Rosh Hashanah or a short personal anecdote and were able to celebrate an evening of Holiday Spirit, Songs and Socializing and a meaningful yet enjoyable Rosh Hashanah Dinner.

Services this year on Rosh Hashanah Eve and both days drew great participation from young and old alike and we look forward to seeing everyone again over Yom Kippur. If you would like to read the sermon from day 1 of Rosh Hashanah click here. The beautiful melodies of Rosh Hashanah, the blowing of the Shofar and praying together as a community are memories that will last us all a long time.

Tashlich & Shofar Blowing at the Grist Mill at the Wayside Inn, once again drew a great diverse crowd and participants all enjoyed a meaningful service and Shofar Blowing, followed by Honey Cakes and some socializing. Despite the bad weather predictions, the sun was shining down during the Tashlich Ceremony.

The second day also included a special Rosh Hashanah Celebration at the Wingate at Sudbury for residents and their family members and friends. More than 30 people enjoyed the beautiful Rosh Hashanah Celebration that included memorable songs, Shofar and much more.

A special thanks to our Cantor, Chazan Shmuli Galperin and his wife Mushky for joining us from New York. Thank you also to Sara Aidel, Mushky Schnieder, Kraina Rieber and Chana Pinkwas for helping out over the whole holiday and for helping run the great children's programs. Thank you to Ed brookmyer for help with setup, to Gila Sarousi, Elaine Allen and several others who helped with setup of the Community Dinner.

May we all have a wonderful healthy and happy New Year
