Purim Recap among the Challenges

Friday, 6 March, 2026 - 4:23 pm

There is so much happening in the world right now, our brothers and sisters are under intense missile fire from multiple fronts, our family members and friends are in shelters, and Israel and the US are at war with Iran and its proxies.

A young employee of Sudbury Police who serves in the US Armed Forces was injured and we pray for his recovery, as we pray for this to end soon, and for an end to evil, and true peace between all people.

Yet, here in Sudbury, how do we celebrate Purim with so much happening and so much pain and concern?

Yet more than ever, Purim and its profound message of salvation from evil decrees, and for a quick turnaround from crazy situations, along with its message of the Jewish people's strengthening and alignment with their faith and values, is an enduring message for us to connect with.

We received messages from family, friends and frontline heroes, asking us and thanking us for carrying on and celebrating the messages of this holiday, even as it is challenging for so many.

Thank G-d, hundreds of people were visited in their homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, offices and more, by Chabad of Sudbury volunteers, who brought joy, connection, Purim treats, empathy, Megillah reading and more.

Tears, smiles and joy were just some of the forms of gratitude!

With some of the weather challenges, we did not manage to visit everyone yet.

Thank you to everyone who gave so much time preparing for these events, packing packages, doing deliveries and helping out.

We are also so grateful to the many of you who showed up at so many happy Purim events this week.

HELPING THOSE IN ISRAEL WHO NEED SUPPORT RIGHT NOW

Thank you to everyone who has stepped up to help us help people in Israel this week, which we will continue doing in the days to come. We have sent funds to help do events for children in shelters, help mothers who are alone, frontline heroes support, and assistance for those struggling. If you would like to help support these efforts, you may do so here.

We are looking forward to the Hebrew School Family Shabbat this evening, with lots of our Hebrew School Families and grandparents!

Shabbat Shalom & Good Shabbos
