Aaron lives in the Maynard House of the The Guild for Human Services and we have become buddies over the last few years, along with a few of his other friends who live together.
We put up some Mezuzahs on their doors, have celebrated Chanukah, and other celebrations together.
Aaron's dad, called me on Friday and said Aaron keeps asking to come and visit us and the Synagogue again, and could we make such a visit happen.
So on Sunday, Aaron came for a visit with his parents to Chabad after Hebrew School and we had a great time chatting, singing some Hebrew songs, and then we realized that he had never put on Tefillin before.
Now Aaron just LOVES his Judaism and his Hebrew name Pesach, but he was a little apprehensive to put on the leather straps of the Tefillin for the first time, but dad came to the rescue, and we all did it together, and for the first time, Aaron could sing the first two verses of the Shema, which he knows so well, while wearing the Tefillin.
As we sang Siman Tov UMazal Tov, Aaron glowed with happiness and joy, as his beautiful deep rooted love and connection to Judaism, just took on another whole new dimension.
Looking forward to having Aaron and his friends over again shortly for another program at ChabadSudbury and we wish Aaron a big Mazal Tov on this moment!
