Recap from Israel Visit

Thursday, 6 June, 2024 - 10:28 am

There are not really enough words to describe the intensity of the experience of the visit to Israel over the last few days. There are certainly many challenges right now in so many areas, yet at the same time, seeing the unbelievable willpower and determination of the people in the face of these challenges was tremendous.

I hope to put together a little diary of some of the key moments and share it tonight or over the next few days.

At the same time, spending Friday night at the Western Wall with thousands upon thousands of people, dancing, singing hope filled melodies and more, was a truly incredible testimony to the willpower of the people.

Seeing the incredible inner strength of the parents of multiple hostages that we visited was something unreal, and one that gives us hope to continue to pray, advocate and do more to help them come home.

Visiting the wounded soldiers and victims of Oct 7th was also a painful yet powerful experience. They the patients, who may have lost limbs, be dealing with terrible injuries, leave you walking away uplifted by their attitudes.

Whether it was gadgets and gifts for the wounded, tangible support for the hostage families, help for so many others dealing with the challenges and more, it was appreciated in a way that we can never imagine. The amount of people who shared tears of gratitude to us was beyond anything we have ever seen, and something that they repeatedly said, was oxygen and encouraging to them in a tremendous way.

Thank you to everyone who has been helping support our efforts to make a truly tangible difference to so many in Israel.

Of course, there were so many moments of raw pain, like when standing at the Nova Fest Massacre site, talking to bereaved parents, visiting the Zikkim Beach and the grave of my dear friend Adi. Yet together with all the pain was the underlying joy of life that people continue to live with, and a determination to overcome these challenges and create better times ahead for everyone.

Let us continue to pray for Israel, for peace, for the return of the hostages, and for the healing of all of the wounded.

If you would like hear and see the details of a lot more powerful moments, please join us this evening at 7pm.

Looking forward to two joyous Bar Mitzvahs over the next few days at Chabad of Sudbury, the Hebrew School Year End Ceremony, and then some action packed days of events over Shavuot and we hope to see as many of you as possible.

Am Yisrael Chai!

Shabbat Shalom & Good Shabbos
