From Times Square to Sudbury

Friday, 1 March, 2024 - 12:32 pm

This past Saturday night, thousands of Jewish teenagers from Chabad Centers around the globe, including Sudbury, celebrated a musical Havdallah and Concert in Times Square, NY.

You can see a video of one powerful moment over here.

To see the images of thousands of teens dancing and celebrating their Jewish pride, praying for peace in Israel and the return of the hostages, and full of incredible joy and happiness, was truly uplifting.

We have an action packed few weeks ahead full of meaningful activities for Purim, Adult Ed, Classes, Israel related events, Shabbat & Weekday Services, Teen, Senior & Youth events and so much more and we hope you can join for whatever works for you.

Tomorrow we read the portion of Ki Tisa, which initially describes the counting and census process of the Jewish people in the desert. The counting had multiple layers of meaning and purpose, but first and foremost it was a message and blessing to each and every individual, that they have individual intrinsic and unique worth.

In fact the Hebrew word used for counting, is Tisa, which has another meaning of "lifting up", which was to convey that the counting wasn't simply a numbers game, but rather one meant to empower the individual with his Divine given worth and the knowledge that he or she has a unique role to play in moving the world to where it needs to be heading.

As we read these messages, we are reminded of our collective and individual responsibilities and abilities, to make a difference to the world, starting from within, and extending all the way out, to help Israel and our people during this challenging time, and at the same time, not losing focus of our overarching goal of helping the world live up to it's Divine potential.

Please join us for Kabbalat Shabbat services this evening at 6pm & tomorrow for Shabbat Services and the Kiddush.

We will also be hosting a group of students from Mendel's school in New Haven, who will certainly add to the atmosphere and joy this Shabbos.

Good Shabbos & Shabbat Shalom
