Expanding Outwards

We are pleased to inform you that the Chabad Center of Sudbury will be initiating a new expansion in the form of a new large deck. This will provide a whole new dimension and atmosphere to community events.

The new space will consist of a large and beautiful deck that will be attached to the main indoor communal area / synagogue. The eight hundred square foot deck will provide an additional area for people to congregate, socialize, learn, celebrate and be a part of what happens indoors while still being outdoors.

Please consider partnering with us in creating the new communal space that will bridge the beautiful indoor experience with the stunning outdoor setting.

We are grateful to the do… Read More »

Driving Safely

This week we reached a new milestone as our daughter received her Driving Permit, and for the first time we have one of our own children sitting behind a steering wheel.

At first, I myself was pretty nervous at the thought of this, but quickly realized that this means that our children are growing up and enabling them to drive and sit behind the wheel of a car, is a part of that process. I told myself that our daughter is very responsible and she will be a cautious and safe driver.

Our first drive was in the parking lot of Chabad and that went pretty well and it was exciting for her and relatively uneventful. Our second drive was a little different as I told my daughter we are going to go on a road and she wa… Read More »

Mazal Tov Dylan Daukantas

On behalf of the Chabad Center of Sudbury we wish a big Mazal Tov to Dylan Daukantas who celebrated his Bar Mitzvah at a service at Chabad of Sudbury this Thursday.

We wish a Mazal Tov to his mother Suzanne and father Joe and to his grandmother Sandy and all of his family. May he continue to excel and be a source of pride to his family and community.

Camp has ended but the memories and joy will continue!

Camp finished a short while ago, but the final goodbyes included so many tears and hugs from the happy yet emotional campers who have formed such deep and joyful relationships with their counselors and new friends.

These tears, hugs and smiles had a deeper meaning and made us realize how all the efforts and energy put into this camp are worth every bit. The kids had a truly amazing camp experience and have created happy and joyous memories that will stay with them forever.

Thank you to our amazing team of counselors and teen helpers who worked so hard and gave their very best to the campers. Thank you to everyone else who helped out in so many ways to make this camp a great success.

From our supporters who help us make this camp … Read More »

What is your Vision?

This week I was in a meeting with someone and he was telling me, that he wants to do his part to make our community a better place so that their child who is currently in Kindergarten will have a better world to deal with by the time they come out of High School.

He was sharing a personal vision for the future and with it, was also a commitment on the part of this person to make an effort to make that happen.

What is your vision?

What is your personal vision for where you want to be in ten or twenty years and what you will have accomplished in the world around you?

What is the vision that you have for your family and children and what you want them to be able to experience or accomplish or do for others?

And of c… Read More »

Fear, Hide & Run or Proud, Joyful & Determined?

How I would just love to simply write a message with a teaching from the weekly Torah portion and not have to address yet another tragic event. But alas, a close colleague and friend, Rabbi Shlomo Noginski, was viciously stabbed yesterday in Boston, Massachusetts in front of the Shaloh House Chabad Center he works at and my world was shaken as was the entire Boston area community.

Thank G-d, my friend is making a good recovery and will be okay, and is truly a lucky person whose life was saved. In his words "the attacker was desperately trying to kill him as he repeatedly tried to stab him in his upper body" but thank G-d, he is okay to tell the tale and the perpetrator is now in Police custody.

The Journey of a "Torah Yad"

THE JOURNEY OF A "YAD" FROM THE 1890'S THAT HAS A NEW HOME IN SUDBURY

Yad 2.jpgA few days ago our neighbor Susan Bistany told us that in her recent dealings with antiques she came across a unique item and wasn't sure what it was. Eventually after some research she realized that it was an antique "Yad" Torah pointer and what it was used for. Then and there she decided that she didn't want to sell this item and instead she would like to give to us to use at ChabadSudbury.
Today she came over and gifted it to us and explained to us what the numbers and symbols on the side mean. Susan explained to us that it is 840 Silver from Russia from the 1890's and that the gems in it were probably real too.
