Memorial Day Message at Sudbury Parade

image (15).pngIt was an honor to share a few words and a prayer at the Sudbury Memorial Day Parade, to honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom we all enjoy and for the blessings that American represents to the world.

Below is the message I shared this morning.

Good Morning Ladies & Gentlemen & Honored Veterans
It is an honor to be standing here together with so many veterans and their families and at a monument where we remember those who served and gave their lives during World War 2, Korea & Vietnam.
Today on Memorial Day we are here to honor those that have served and protected our country and given their lives to uphold t… Read More »

How did we get here and how do we respond?

Dear Friends,

This week, we mourn. Again.

We grieve the loss of Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky—two innocent souls taken in a senseless act of hatred and violence.

Once more, we find ourselves asking: How did we get here?

Once more, we are reminded of the harsh reality we face: two Israelis were shot at a Jewish event in Washington, D.C. It’s deeply disturbing. Over the past months, we’ve witnessed a rise in antisemitism that feels both surreal and painfully familiar, on college campuses, in the media, and even in everyday conversations with neighbors and colleagues.

It’s easy to feel disheartened, even numb.

But our response need not be fear or despair, it can be purpose.

Hebrew School Celebration 2025

20250518_101250.jpgToday was a very moving today as we celebrated another year of Jewish learning and fun at the Chabad Hebrew School of ChabadSudbury.

Listening to the children sing, present their work, and show their love and joy for our Jewish heritage and values was moving in of itself.

Hearing Mikhal Shvartzman a former student and someone who has given her Sundays to the students of the Hebrew School throughout her High School years share her sentiments was very inspiring. Mikhal shared her perspective on how her journey as a student in the Hebrew School since she was 10 years old, along with the values given to her by her parents, Dima Shvartsman & Orli Sveta Fligil Shvartzman and her continued involvement throughout the years at … Read More »

Lag Baomer Family Celebration Recap

image (26).pngThanks to the dozens of families who joined us for the Lag Baomer Family Celebration this past Friday!

The beautiful crowd enjoyed an awesome Lag Baomer celebration, horse and pony rides, a BBQ, Lag Baomer fun and a meaningful message and Smores and more.

The Lag Baomer Joy

IMG-20250515-WA0203.jpgLast night as we sat around the fire and enjoyed a Lag Baomer Kumzitz, the energy, joy and inspiring message of this special day were in the air.

As Josh strung the Am Yisrael Chai or One Day on his guitar, as all of us hummed along with those songs and other soulful Israeli & Chassidic Melodies. The flames flickered and lit up the beautiful dark night in the bug free outdoors, and the depths of joy, Jewish resilience, love for Israel, and living meaningfully, drifted through the air.

Lag Baomer is here, a joyful and happy day, connected with the holy and deeper teachings of Judaism, along with the resilience and overcoming of so many challenges through our history.

It is truly a day dedicated to th… Read More »

Stuck in a Violent Storm

The rumbles of thunder started as we were in Memorial Forest in Sudbury last Shabbat. I turned to our guests from Israel and my little daughter and said I think we should start heading back to our home in Sudbury.

As we walked down the rail trail between Dutton Road and Peakham and started getting soaked by the heavy rain, the rolling thunder and lightning seemed to shake the forest around us.

Suddenly a crazy storm of wind began and the entire forest on either side of us was shaking and rumbling. We watched as just three hundred feet in front of us the entire forest was violently shaking, as branches fell, trees went flying, and the rain pounded down.

We looked upwards and watched the branches swinging violently on to… Read More »

Emotional Health Author & Lecture Recap

image (7).pngThank you to everyone who joined us on Monday evening for the lecture "Emotional Balance in Today's World" with Rabbi Levi Shmotkin author of "Letters of Life".

It was a very meaningful and insightful conversation which delved in to the Lubavitcher Rebbe's approach to emotional wellbeing in today's world.

We are grateful to our sponsors, Rob & Sharon Meltzer, who helped make this event possible.

We have extra signed copies of the book available at Chabad of Sudbury.

Inspiring & Unsung Heroes

There are heroes you hear about and there are others you don't hear about.

Elisha Medan is a 53 year old reservist who lost four friends and both of his legs while fighting to bring back home the hostages. I had not heard of him until this week when he was honored to light a torch for Israel's independence day.

This picture tells it all, about why he was honored and why he has become a symbol of resilience, heroism and greatness to so many.

Just looking at the picture gives you the chills, makes you think about his sacrifices and the pain he has gone through, yet the smile and determination that he is carrying each and every day.

Heroes come in all shapes and sizes, some well known and some less known.
