Hebrew School Celebration Photos & Report

This past Sunday, the Chabad Sudbury Hebrew School held an academic year end celebration and award ceremony.

It was the end of a truly amazing year of meaningful learning and fun as well as a positive experience in the Jewish journey of each one of the students.

Thank you to all of the Hebrew School families who were able to join us for the celebration this past Sunday. It was a wonderful morning and we loved hearing from the many students who shared poems, short speeches, songs or helped out with the program.

It was especially heartwarming to hear the students express themselves so eloquently in their own words, about what they have learned, loved and been inspired by.

Thank you to Melissa Noah&n… Read More »

Making the Desert Bloom

Travel Quote Desert Instagram Post.pngHave you ever wondered why the Jewish people received the Torah and the Ten Commandments in the desert, rather than in some built up city or perhaps at least once they arrived in the Land of Israel?

Maybe this question has been something that has crossed your mind or maybe not, and maybe this doesn't even to be something to stop and think about. Yet in truth there is actually a profound message in this little detail, which it turns out gets to the very crux of Judaism.

Is Judaism for the Synagogue or for the Home, for Hebrew School or for the big wide world?

Where should Judaism be celebrated, observed, studied? Is it reserved for the synagogue, Hebrew School and Jewish Classes and Jewish spaces, or is it about impacting … Read More »

Photos & Recap of a Great Week

This past week included so many different events which attracted different audiences and crowds.

Starting last Friday night, we enjoyed a Shabbat Israel Dinner to which more than 75 people attended. The fun evening which was mostly geared towards adults and teens, included delicious Shabbat Food with some Israeli twists, stories, songs and so much more. It was generously sponsored by Dr. Brian & Nancy Schwartz who were celebrating their 32nd wedding anniversary. (More community Shabbat Dinners are in the works).

Besides Shabbat Services & Sunday School which are weekly events that draw great crowds, the fun continued on Tuesday with a beautiful and huge turnout at the Lag Baomer Celebration.

Israel & the Jewish World this Week

Imagine incoming rocket sirens going off and you know that your little toddlers have sixty to ninety seconds to get to the bomb shelters with their teachers, and you are blocks away.

This was the reality of multiple of my relatives this week, as the incoming rocket sirens went off in the middle of the day on Wednesday. Just imagine what a mother must feel during those terrifying moments.

I have another close elderly relative who is wheelchair bound, and they hardly have time to get to the bomb shelter in their apartment, as the sirens go off.

This is the reality of millions of Israelis this week as once again Israel fights terrorists who are committed to destroying Israel.

Please take a moment to say a prayer for peace and … Read More »

Shouting or Shining

All too often we seem to feel that whoever seems to shout the loudest is the one who will be heard. Yet influence on others is not simply about shouting or screaming, in fact sometimes doing that can backfire.

Instead one of the ultimate ways to influence a child, students and others, is by being an example and good role model. Ultimately, it is not about so much about what we say, it is much more about what we do.

It is this message that is the opening message of the Torah portion this week, in which the Kohen's are instructed to educate their children with the specific commandments that Kohens need to be mindful of.

Rashi, the great medieval commentator states that the word "Emor" (say), is repeated twice in … Read More »
