Why is this Year different than so many other years?

Why is this Year different than so many other years?

Israel and the Jewish people are under attack!

Why is the joy of the Seder this year, tinged with pain and sadness?

We are still missing over 130 hostages and we are thinking of the many hundreds of Seder Tables who are missing loved ones this year.

Why do the messages of "in every generation they arise to destroy us" touch a different chord this year?

Since antisemitism is running rampant in so many institutions that supposedly represent tolerance and sophisticated education, among many other places.

Why does the message of Am Yisrael Chai sound different this year?

Since we are seeing an incredible resilience and strength among our people in Israel and around th… Read More »

"In Every Generation They Rise Up To Destroy Us"

"In Every Generation They Rise Up To Destroy Us"

This is the refrain we mention in the middle of the Passover Seder, as we raise our glass of wine, and remember that the story of persecution of the Jewish in Egypt and their ultimate liberation, was not a onetime event in history, but rather one that has been repeated throughout our history again and again.

The message of Passover always brings a fresh perspective and reminder of our story, mission and purpose. This year, it is as… Read More »

Mazal Tov Risa & Meir

Having driven my niece many hundreds of time to school in Boston over the years, it was a true honor to be able to drive her one more time, but this time to her Chuppah Ceremony.

The wedding was beautiful, uplifting and joyous on so many levels and there were so many moments of joy, happiness, dancing and more. Yet at the same time, there is also always a somber, special and deep moment at one or two moments of the ceremony, which encapsulate so much of what a wedding is about.

At one point, which we refer to as the Bedekken ceremony, the groom walks over to the bride, shortly before the Chuppah, to see that it is her and to cover her with a veil. It is a moving moment as t… Read More »
