Chanukah Recap in Sudbury & Marlborough Area & Israel

Thank you to the hundreds of you who have been joining us for the many programs and events that we have been running over Chanukah.

Below is a little recap of what has been happening so far over Chanukah and lots of photos.

Chanukah in Sudbury Town Center

Thanks to the huge crowds of hundreds of people of all ages, who joined us last night for a fabulous Chanukah Celebration in Sudbury Town Center!

We appreciated the warm words of greetings from Town Manager, Andy Sheehan and the presence of multiple members of the Select Board.

The hundreds of donuts and latkes that were finished last night, as well as the music, dancing, and the amazing show, helped make for a truly beautiful Chanukah night in Sudbury!

Chanukah in Marlborough

Thank you to everyone who joined us in the cold last night at the Marlborough Menorah Lighting Celebration in Marlborough City Center!!

It was great seeing so many old and new faces that we know from ChabadSudbury and elsewhere, both young and old who helped make it so special and joyous.

We are thankful as always to the City of Marlborough (Official) for facilitating this annual celebration. And a special thank you to Sean Navin for Councilor-At-Large for joining us and sharing a beautiful message as you do each year!!

Year End Fundraiser Update & Israel Efforts

We are humbled and full of gratitude for the tremendous support for Chabad of Sudbury's annual Matching Fundraiser, and to the 250+ people who have donated so far to the year end Shine Brighter Fundraiser.

A huge thank you to our lead matchers, Rick & Gabrielle Henken for their encouragement and tremendous support which really made this fundraiser possible, along with the very kind support from our other matchers Chuck & Jill Katz, and a dear friend, who wishes to remain anonymous.

The support which has come in will help us end off 2024 in a strong position, and will help jump start and expand so much of what we do in the months ahead.

At the same time, I would like to thank all of those who … Read More »

Tranquil or Choppy & the Story of Life

In life we so often just want tranquility, predictability, and the ability to have a calm rhythm and dynamics that we live by. This is true in the personal realm what we wish and hope for our families, and this is true what we hope for collectively as a community, people, for Israel and as a global society.

Yet all too often, the wind is knocked out of our sails or we get hit by turbulence and storms, that we never saw coming. Whether it is regarding our own lives, our children's journeys, health, job security, or antisemitism, Israel and so much more.

When that happens, we all struggle with staying afloat, staying focused, being positive, and navigating the course and heading towards our goals and destinations.

We know what we n… Read More »

A Nachas note from a JSU event (3rd Club) started by our Teen Graduates

When one of our Chabad Hebrew School & ChabadSudbury CTEEN alumni told us that he has now helped start a Jewish Student Club at his High School and asked us to come and talk about being a Rabbi, being Jewish and to bake Challah with the students at the Club, it was an honor and joy!

We had a great time and some great conversations today and I loved the questions and discussions.

It was a true pleasure to meet so many of the amazing students and staff at the New England Innovation Academy and of course Shayna's amazing Challah dough was a big hit!

Looking forward to returning for more fun Jewish Club sessions and proud of all of our teens who have helped start Jewish Clubs in multiple High Sc… Read More »

Injured but not Gone & the Eternal Struggle and Triumph of Israel

Man Down, but not Gone!

The epic struggle between the angel of Essau and Jacob takes place in the portion we read tomorrow. As they struggle and wrestle for hours, the angel of Essau realizes that although he has injured Jacob in the hip, he has lost the battle.

As he asks Jacob to let go, he then proceeds to give Jacob a blessing that your name will now be not only Jacob, but Yisrael, for the name means to struggle with man and angels, and still overcome.

As the Children of Israel, whom the country of Israel is named after, we have all been endowed with this eternal and timeless quality, of being able to collectively and individually overcome the challenges that we face from the outside, even if we are injured at times in the process.

The Deaf Rabbi who is Changing the World & Other Anecdotes

20241201_084421.jpgThis past Sunday, at the International Chabad Rabbinical Conference in New York, I had the honor of hearing an incredible talk by my colleague Rabbi Yehoshua Soudakoff, who is a deaf Rabbi.

He spoke about his incredible journey and the challenges he went through since his childhood and of the rejection he received along the way and how he was told he just wasn't going to make it in life. He then described the warm embrace he felt from every Chabad Center he visited even though he didn't understand one word they said. He described how this led him to a journey to embrace who he was and the challenges that he faces and to use them to change the world and reach people that no one else is reaching.

He now runs the Chushim center… Read More »
