Respect & Courage


The late Lord Rabbi Jonathan Sacks used to often quote the idea, that "people respect Jews who respect their Judaism".

Seeing the packed Congress with hundreds of elected representatives and leaders of this country from both sides of the aisle, giving repeated standing ovations, to the messages and words of the elected leader of Israel who spoke out about the attacks of Oct 7th, antisemitism and the unique relationship that exists between Israel and the US people, was something that brought home this idea in a very powerful way.

Politics aside, delivering the message as it is, and being willing to stand by these timeless facts and values, is something that most people in this country respect and appreciate.

Evening with Avi Ohana, father of the Hostage, Yosef Ohana

 

It is not every day that you meet someone who has been through so much pain in life, and is currently enduring the ongoing nightmare of his son being kidnapped and held hostage, yet at the same time, is someone so full of hope, faith and a unifying message.

We are tremendously grateful to Avi Ohana,  for coming to Sudbury last night to speak about his dear son Yosef Chaim and all the other hostages.

Yosef Chaim was working at the Nova Fest and wouldn't abandon the wounded and ended up being taken taken hostage.

Donkeys & International Justice


"A Nation that Dwells Alone and is not Reckoned Among the Nations" are the famous words we will read tomorrow in synagogues all over the world. They were said thousands of years ago by the non Jewish prophet, Bilaam who was rebuked by his (talking) donkey, as he attempted to curse the Jewish people and ended up blessing them.

Bilaam & Balak, knew that militarily they couldn't succeed against the Jews, so they resorted to the power of words, curses and more, and hoped that in doing so, they would delegitimize the Jewish people and their Divine support. Another week of drama in the world as candidates debate away and the country processes what is happening....

The big elections in the UK and the dramatic results, France.... and more to come....

The war continues in Israel, so many new young faces were counted among the victims that were killed this week....

At the same time, at Camp Gan Israel, we are making sure that the dozens of campers have the time of their lives at the summer day camp, infused with Jewish pride, joy, fun activities, sports, swimming and so much more.

Camp Gan Israel Sudbury off to a great start!

 

Camp Gan Israel of Sudbury is off to an awesome start and had an amazing week of fun and joyful activities. From swimming and sports, to baking Challah, arts and crafts and of course a great trip to Urban Air, along with lots of Jewish songs and spirit about Israel & Judaism, it all made for an absolutely amazing week of an awesome camp experience.
