It was 4:30am and Yosef Gutfreund was sleeping peacefully in his room, when suddenly he heard a scratching on the door to his apartment in the Munich Olympic Village. Yosef who was a wrestling referee rose to investigate and saw the door begin to open and masked men and guns about to enter. He shouted a warning and threw himself against the door in an attempt to stop the intruders and hold them off for a while. His warning and holding down the door gave several athletes the time to escape and survive the massacre. Ultimately though, he was killed in the bungled rescue attempt by the German security forces and was one of the eleven Israeli athletes who were murdered in the infamous attack.

The Jewish world is reeling from the cowardly terror attack that targeted a bus of Israeli’s who were travelling on vacation to Bulgaria. Some of the victims probably never had time to realize what happened and others will be physically scarred for a long time to come from this terrible attack. They were targeted for one reason, because they were Jewish and Israeli, and for the terrorists this is more than enough to conduct a cowardly strike. A lady who had finally become pregnant after many years, young vacationers, and other innocent victims were all cut down by a single murderous blast.
The campers of Camp Gan Israel Sudbury have just completed an awesome week of fun activities, Jewish learning, exciting trips, tons of sports and games and so much more. The camp which was based at Lincoln Sudbury High School featured five days of non-stop fun in an exciting Jewish atmosphere. 20 local children were able to participate in this exciting camp and below we present a synopsis of the camp's daily activities.
