Thanks to the 40+ who have joined the Kabbalah of Meaning Course

Thank you to the 40+ who have signed up for the new course "Kabbalah of Meaning"!

We have held multiple classes so far in person and also on Zoom, and both classes had great refreshments such as Sushi and Shawarma, and so many meaningful anecdotes and ideas exchanged by the diverse crowd, including so many mental health professionals.

We want to give a special thank you to Dr. Doug Jacobs, who will be sharing ideas at each class, from modern psychology which correlate to the ideas being taught, which will help bring home some of the central ideas of each class.

The course (which is also accredited for Continued Educational Credits for many Medical Professionals) is being held person and with a Zoom option.

Jewish & Being Thankful

In the Merriam Webster dictionary they define the word Jew, in different ways, as you can see in the image we included. Yet in addition to "these basic definitions, there is one deeper dimension to this name which was not included (yet).

While the universal name for our people has become Jews, or Yehudim, in addition to the names like the Hebrews, and people of Israel, Jews is a name that expresses a very deep idea that is intrinsic to being Jewish.

As the dictionary correctly pointed out, Jew is also associated with being from the tribe of Judah, which later become the tribe of leadership of the Jewish people. Yet when one stops to analyze and understand the meaning of this actual name, it contains a message and a calling.

What is Happening in NYC?

Dear Friends,

I am back in Sudbury for Shabbos after spending an incredible 36 hours at part of the International Conference of Chabad Shluchim from around the world.

Meeting hundreds of friends and colleagues from around the world, hearing their stories, anecdotes, challenges and heart to heart to talks, has been uplifting, deep and inspiring.

Hearing the Rabbi from Manchester speak about the terrorist attack on his community on Yom Kippur and what has happened since left you speechless. Talking to friends from Israel who are rallying their communities, often serving in the IDF at the same time, and hearing about family members and friends with PDF, was hard to process.

Listening to the Rabbi from Uganda tal… Read More »

However I do want to share a well known teaching from the Talmud and Maimonides, who state that Three Essential Character Traits that should be intrinsically part of our Character and Behavior as Jewish people.

These are the traits of Humility, Empathy & Doing Kindness.

The order is telling, as it is teaching us that while all three traits are interconnected, it is a healthy dose of humility which breeds empathy, which will then lead to acts of kindness to others.

At a time, when politics have become so divisive, when antisemitism has crept into the h… Read More »
