Caring for Others & Shining Stars

Earlier this week, I had a very painful conversation with someone in the area, who was pouring out their heart to me about their very difficult situation. Terrible poverty, tremendous struggles, huge medical challenges and the worst of all, the feeling that they are alone in their pain and struggles. In their words "we may be the only people like this in the community".

I have visited or had meetings with several people over the last few weeks, who live alone and feel alone, face huge challenges, and are carrying so much pain in their hearts.

Indeed, we live in a world where it may not be obvious how many are struggling just beneath the surface, or are "alone" in this world, in how they feel or sometimes… Read More »

Facing the Stress Levels in Society

A Gallup poll conducted in 2023 found that 49% of Americans reported feeling stressed frequently. This is up from 40% in 2017.

In 2024 APA’s latest Stress in America™ poll  revealed that 7 in 10 adults reported the future of our nation (77%) as a significant source of stress in their lives, making it the most common source of significant stress in that year’s survey.

The economy was the second most common, with 73% of adults having reported it as a significant source of stress.

Generally speaking there is no doubt that stress and external pressures from the constant negative news, social media,  financial pressures and toxic polarization, has taken a toll on the wellbeing of our&… Read More »

The Emotional Homecomings and a new Beginning!

IMG-20251013-WA0123.jpgThe emotional and powerful videos of the reunions of the hostages have touched us all in such a powerful way. Their individual dramatic stories are all incredible, painful and uplifting all at the same time.

Yet a common thread seems to be emerging from all of their stories, both from them and from their loved ones...

Their unbelievable resilience, hope, and faith in the face of so much evil, torture and abuse.

One after another, their stories are ones that will go down in history as ones that represent the resilience of our people, of Shema Yisrael, of faith and inner strength that defies all logic, and so much more.

PXL_20251012_213541180~2.jpgMazal Tov Liam on your Bar Mitzvah this past Sunday!

Two years ago, the day after the Holiday of Simchat Torah, on Oct 9th we had a big Bar Mitzvah at Chabad and right after that a huge gathering of pray and solidarity as the media showed up, and we balanced a million conflicting emotions.

This week, exactly two years later, we celebrated your Bar Mitzvah, which became a double Simcha, your personal celebration on this very special day as you reached this milestone, and one connected to the theme of your Drash, being thankful for G-d's blessings of protection and having gratitude for the blessings in life and empathy for others!

Liam, your Bar Mitzvah was truly special on so many levels, and you made all of us so proud!

Sukkot & Oct 7th

Sukkot & Oct 7th

Dear Friends,

In a few hours we will begin the holiday of Sukkot, one of the most joyous holidays on the Jewish calendar, as we transition from the High Holidays to a whole different energy. Coupled with that, this year the first day of Sukkot, is also the second anniversary of the Oct 7th attack and brings so many other emotions in its wake.

On Oct 7th two years ago, I was cut off from the news due to the holiday of Shemini Atzeret but was hearing awful snippets of news from people around us. My parents were in Israel at the time and of course lots of o… Read More »
