Bar Mitzvah Boys Whirlwind Trip to NYC

Monday, 17 June, 2013 - 3:56 pm

NY Boys Trip 004.JPGThis past Sunday June 16th, five Bar Mitzvah students who study at Chabad of Sudbury took an exciting whirlwind trip to New York for a year-end trip. The trip featured a stop at Ground Zero and seeing the new World Trade Center, and an action packed schedule in Crown Heights, Jewish Brooklyn.

In Brooklyn, the boys were able to enjoy an amazing visit at the world famous Jewish Children's Museum and had a great time even though they didn't have time for one of the floors. The boys had a blast with the hands on learning and the interactive walk through Jewish history, the Torah Scroll workshop at which the process of making a Torah Scroll from start to finish, getting to see a 700 year old Torah Scroll written on Deer Parchment, playing a Jewish themed mini golf on the 6th floor of the Museum, some fun Jewish Arts & Crafts, and lots more.

In addition some great Brooklyn Kosher Pizza, a run through some local Judaica Brooklyn-20130616-00972.jpg& Food Stores, some basketball in a local park with local kids, a visit to 770, the Chabad World Headquarters that included a quick tour and the chance for each boy to say some prayers, meeting some local personalities, and some great Kosher Burgers for the journey home all made for an amazingly fun and educational trip that the boys won't forget for a while.

Feedback from parents and boys.

"Avi enjoyed it very much, especially visiting Jewish Children Museum, the Torah Scrolls Workshop presentation, the World Trade Center, and the Jewish neighborhood of Crown Heights. Avi never visited any of these places before, so the whole trip was very educational and interesting. Also he was very glad to meet the editor of The Moshiach Times".

Another Boy, "According to him, the best parts were hanging out with friends for the whole day and passing by the Barclays Center (home of Brooklyn Nets)"
