Condolences to the Moffie Family

Mickie Moffie 'STUNNING!'.JPGOn behalf of the Chabad Center of Sudbury we express our deepest condolences to the entire family of Micky Moffie and especially to her two children Gary & Nancy and their families. I only got to know Micky one year ago, but it turned out to a be a very long and special year. We celebrated her Bat Mitzvah together at the age of 83 along with many of her friends and relatives, enjoyed many special events and occasions, and was inspired by her love of life and the way she lived each day to the maximum.

May the soul of Mickie Moffie (Mindel Bas Yackov) be bound up in eternal life and may her family be comforted among the mourners of Zion & Jerusalem.

Model Matzah Bakery 2010 Pictures & Report

Model Matzah Bakery 2010 Joshua Plotke Photography 3This past Sunday March 21st, well over 150 people joined the Model Matzah Bakery which was held at the Nobscot Reservation in Sudbury to experience a truly exciting and memorable Passover Experience. In the space of three sessions participants from Sudbury and the surrounding towns (including a nice big group from Congregation Beth E-lokim in Acton) joined together for a fun hour of Matzah Baking, Passover Fun, and a delightful hour of hands on educational fun.

Participants had the chance to meet Moses and Pharaoh (parents who were dressed up for the event), relive the Passover story, grind wheat grains on a stone mill, make a  Matzah dough, and then fashion their own authentic looking Matzah.

Our Big Flood

During the heavy rains of last weekend we kept hearing reports of flooded basements and flooded roads. We thought we had been spared only to discover Tuesday morning a few inches of water in our finished basement. We absorbed quite a bit of damage including a ruined carpet, matresses, Chabad Holiday supplies, some High Holiday Prayer Books, other holiday books, and lots of other stuff that was in storage.

I would like to thank everyone who responded with their help or offers to help and especially to my two Sump Pump providers (when the stores were out of them) Ed Brookmyer and Olga Lepsky, and to Kerry & Judy Weinstein who spent a few hours helping rip up all the wet and damaged carpet and… Read More »
