Purim in the Circus

(Sudbury, MA) The Chabad Center of Sudbury invites you to celebrate Purim at our mega Purim event “Purim in the Circus”. The event will feature a first class circus entertainer and show, a Purim Masquerade, great food, a Multi Media Megilla Reading, Purim Games, and lots more. Purim in the Circus is guaranteed fun for the entire family.

Please come dressed up in your favorite Purim costume!

The event is Sunday, Feb 28th 4-6pm and will take place in the Nobscot Reservation (White Lodge), 1 Nobscot Road, Sudbury, MA, 01776. Admission is $10 per person (ages 3 & up) or $100 to be an event sponsor.

The event is open to the entire community and no affiliation is necessary. RSVP is required for this event and can be done by calling 978-443-0110 or via email at info@chabadsudbury.com

Purim is a day of celebration and sharing together. It is a Jewish Holiday on which we exchange gifts of delicacies, aid the poor, and feast on superb dishes. The holiday celebrates the survival of the Jewish nation in ancient Persia during the reign of King Achashverosh (Xerxes). The Jews triumphed because of their active unity and unshakable commitment to their Jewish identity.

In addition to Purim in the Circus there will be a Public Megilla Reading on Saturday evening Feb 27th at 6:45pm at the Chabad Center of Sudbury

Israel & the Media

The Chabad Center of Sudbury invites you to a Brunch and Lecture with Boston Globe Columnist Jeff Jacoby on the Media & Israel.

Jeff is known as a great writer and a strong advocate and supporter of Israel in the Boston Globe and other major media outlets. Jeff was also recently honored with the Ben Hecht Award for Outstanding Journalism on the Middle East by ZOA for his strong writing credentials on his Israel commentary and editorials. Jeff will share his perspective on Israel and the Media and why so much of the media often gets it wrong when it comes to Israel.

Whether you agree or disagree with Jeff you are guranteed to have a great morning and be part of a stimulating discussion on Israel.

A optional Sunday morning (45 minute) service will begin at 8:45am and then at 9:30am - 10:00am there will be a Bagel Brunch.

While we all may disagree on many things however when it comes to supporting Israel and its inhabitants we share a lot more in common than our differences. Jeff Jacoby will share his perspective on the media's attitudes towards Israel and on ways that we can all make a difference in supporting Israel.

Biography

Jeff Jacoby has been an op-ed columnist for The Boston Globe since February 1994. Seeking a conservative voice, the Globe hired him away from the Boston Herald, where he had been chief editorial writer since 1987. The Boston Phoenix has dubbed his twice-weekly essays "a must-read," describing him as "the region's pre-eminent spokesman for Conservative Nation."

A native of Cleveland, Jeff Jacoby graduated with honors from George Washington University in 1979, and from Boston University Law School in 1983. He briefly practiced law at the nationally renowned firm of Baker & Hostetler, returning to Boston in 1984 to work on a political campaign. In 1985-87, he was an assistant to Dr. John Silber, the president of Boston University.

For several years, Jacoby was a political commentator for WBUR, Boston's National Public Radio affiliate. He also hosted "Talk of New England," a weekly television program. He is a frequent guest on radio talk shows across North America. He serves on the board of directors of the Ford Hall Forum, the nation's oldest free public-lecture series.

In 1999, Jacoby became the first recipient of the Breindel Prize, a $10,000 prize for excellence in opinion journalism. In 2004, he received the Thomas Paine Award of the Institute for Justice, an award presented to journalists "who dedicate their work to the preservation and championing of individual liberty."

Ten Commandments to be aired in Sudbury

Get ready for Shavuot in Sudbury!! Relive a 3000 year old experience from Mount Sinai.

On Wednesday May 23rd we will be holding a live reading of the Ten Commandments in Sudbury, on the original anniversary of the giving of the Ten Commandments.

A delicious dairy buffet Kiddush will follow, which will include traditional Shavuot foods such as Blintzes, cheesecakes, wines and much more for the adults and Ice Cream Sundaes for the kids.

Many thanks to Mr & Mrs Alex Gutt for helping towards the sponsorship of this event in honor of their daughter Rochel. It will take place at 6:30pm, be sure not to miss this great event.
